THe freeport high school scholarship foundationaward
In evaluating students and awarding scholarships, the Foundation will consider whether the student:
intends to attend a post-graduate educational program – either a skills/trade school or two or four-year college program;
is a Freeport High School student and Maine resident;
faces significant challenges and obstacles in the pursuit of post-secondary education;
demonstrates exceptional financial need;
makes a difference in the lives of others and that of his/her community;
is a solid school citizen;
has made a positive contribution to the school environment and/or extra-curricular activities;
exhibits a commitment to public service;
has the potential to make a difference in the world; and,
demonstrates satisfactory academic progress in the program in which they are enrolled.
ADDITIONAL FUNDS WITH WHICH WE COLLABORATE
The Christine Small Cushing Memorial Scholarship
The Foundation also collaborates with the Principal of Freeport High School to manage and make awards from the Christine Small Cushing Memorial Trust which was established by Leon Cushing in 1999. Substantial awards of $2,500 or more will be made for two or four years, depending on the post-secondary program that the student attends.
Scholarship Award Criteria

A graduating senior from Freeport High School

A GPA of 2.5 or better in his/her/their senior year

Industrious and of good moral character

An interest in mathematics or science preferred but not essential.
